jessica dahl, board president

Jessica has worked on Lopez Island as a landscape designer for 15 years and has a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has worked on projects with local, state, and national grant funding in both a professional and board member capacity with the Lopez Community Land Trust, Housing Lopez, and currently the Lopez Food Center. A large part of her professional work is project management of large scale landscape construction, typically working in collaboration with a team of clients, architects, general contractors, landscape contractors and other subcontractors. She is also currently project managing the construction of her own home which was lost to a fire in 2023. Jess is a current LCC parent.

meredith perry, board SECRETARY

Meredith Perry is a film editor, writer and mom of two. She lives on Lopez Island full time and both of her children attended the Lopez Children's Center before going on to kindergarten. Meredith is passionate about child development and the unique opportunity preschools have to provide a nurturing, kind and supportive environment for young children. Aware of the opportunity programs like LCC have to make a huge impact on a child's emotional regulation, kindness and success into adulthood, Meredith is focused as a board member on staff education, enrichment, and the success of LCC programming.

brian halaburka, board treasurer

Brian Halaburka is the LCC Board Treasurer. He holds a Masters from UC Berkeley and a PhD from Stanford in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He worked in the public sector as a state water quality regulator and in the private sector as an engineering consultant. After earning his PhD, Brian co-founded a private equity group and managed over $20 million in investor assets. He joined the Board in 2022, and since then has helped LCC manage its budget through a tough leadership transition, balancing tuition increases, building maintenance, and staff wage increases. Brian's provides LCC with needed expertise in accounting, financial planning, and project management.

sunny crandell, board member

Sunny Crandell served as the Director of The Oaks Parent-Child Workshop – a nonprofit preschool founded in 1947 and licensed to serve 45 children daily – in Santa Barbara CA from 2010-2020. In this role, she worked closely with the board during each phase of construction projects – from design to execution – and served as project manager and grant writer for certain capital developments. As a Board Trustee of Montecito Elementary School (2003-2009) she helped execute a property exchange with the Montecito YMCA and an adjacent property to Montecito Union which allowed them purchase property they had leased for 50 years.

hannah rose, board member

Hannah Rose is a lifetime island local, raised in this community and, as a single mother, raised three children who are now all in college. She sat on the board of the Lopez Co-operative Preschool when her kids were in school and worked closely with the children and the schools for the last 16 years to advocate for her child’s special needs. She is also on the board of Lopez Community Land Trust, a non-profit association that oversees the property management of low income housing.
